Over at the Forbidden Planet International blog, Richard Bruton has posted a thoughtful review of The Dreams Of Secret Cinema.  He doesn’t particularly like it, but he’s up front about the reasons that it doesn’t work for him. Quite right, too. Let’s see what he said:

The Dreams Of Secret Cinema just didn’t work for me. It’s an intriguing idea, well executed artistically, but loses me narratively. In some ways I feel I’ve failed it somewhat – maybe I need to watch a few more films?

As always, there are some very good points made, though I don’t think it’s that esoteric a list of films, is it? Anyway, you may also be pleased to know that there should be a new tranche of the strip appearing at the sequential very soon.

Back in July Matthew Murray reviewed Strip for Me 22 on his 365 zines a year blog, and I’ve only just noticed! I should google my own name more often.

So, what’s he saying?

“I guess it’s better to try for something big and fail than to do something mediocre.“

I’d have to agree with that sentiment! Go and have a read of the full thing and decide for yourself.

If you’re out and about in London tomorrow, you could do worse that taking a trip south of the river to the annual Comica Comiket.  A host of familiar friends will be there, and it’ll give you an excuse to check out the exhibition in and out of the Pumphouse while you’re there.  Say hello to everyone for me!
